I’m not sure if you heard about the who Skecher.com $3 boot debacle over the weekend or not but it’s gotten A LOT of folks riled up.
I’ll admit, I placed an order, hoping for a killer deal on shoes. I’ve never ordered from their site but have owned Skechers in the past so I was confident the winter boots would be of good quality.
HOLY MOLY. It got out of hand pretty quickly after I placed my order. In a nutshell a pair of boots were priced at $3, the deal went viral online which caused server problems but many people managed to get their orders placed (including me). Ultimately Skechers came out last night stating there was a pricing error and cancelled all those orders.
People are now filing BBB and FTC complaints over the whole thing.
I wasn’t aware at the time but apparently Skechers has had 3 other incorrect pricing errors on their site and promptly cancelled those orders as well which has not helped their image. oh and apparently there’s a Super Bowl commercial they filmed at a dog racing track that’s got folks in an uproar too but I really don’t know what that’s about.
The bottom line is Skechers could have gotten out in front of this by using their social media instead of letting all the anger and agression from customers boil over onto their Facebook page all weekend. Will I attempt to buy from their site again…probably not – since I can trust their prices are accurate or their orders will be honored. Will I buy Skechers in the store…only if they’re on sale (like I do with all my shoe purchases) and walk out with them in hand!

I am not as shocked as everyone else. After all, this is a company whose main spokesperson got married and divorced and netted millions from her faux wedding. I don’t care how great their shoes are, this is just sad and wrong.
I forgot Kim Kardashian is one of their celebrity spokesmen! It’s sad they don’t value their customers more & feel it’s okay to treat us this way.
